OUR LAND
We reside in a rural region encompassed by the Nongoma Local Municipality. As part of this rural area, we face unique challenges due to the limited availability of services. However, we are grateful to have electricity supplied by Eskom. Our community is home to various small livestock, including free-range chickens, egg-laying hens, goats, and sheep. In addition, we cultivate a range of nutritious crops such as spinach, cabbage, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, onions and more.
One of the distinctive aspects of our lifestyle here is our reliance on rainwater harvesting. We understand the value of this precious resource and strive to conserve it during dry seasons like winter. When our water tanks eventually run dry, we adapt by using buckets, drums (with capacities of 20 or 25 litres), and even rely on water tankers for replenishment.
However, it’s important to note that many members of our community face greater water challenges than we do. These families, often larger in size, possess smaller tanks that deplete more rapidly. In such circumstances, you may find them visiting nearby small streams to sift and collect water for their daily needs. Unfortunately, they must contend with livestock that also flock to these unreliable water sources. This water serves various purposes in their households, including drinking, cooking, and performing daily chores.
Yet, accessing water from these natural streams presents a potential danger. Sometimes, these water sources become contaminated due to upstream disposal of biological waste, which subsequently flows downstream. Not everyone is cautious enough to boil the water before consuming it, and this increases the risk of health issues caused by consuming contaminated water.
At our church, we are committed to supporting and uplifting our community by providing spiritual guidance and practical assistance to social ills. We strive to address these challenges through education and empowerment programs, promoting safe water practices, and sharing the principles of sustainable living. Together, we aim to create a healthier, more resilient community where everyone can thrive.
OUR COMMUNITY
Currently, none of our church members are employed. We also have a significant number of children, with approximately 98% of them born out of wedlock. Many of our church members and community residents have experienced challenges in their education, resulting in high school dropouts, failed matric exams or minimal academic achievements. Consequently, they lack formal education beyond the Matric level, remain unskilled, and find it difficult to secure employment opportunities as they are unemployable.
As a church, we are dedicated to providing guidance and practical skills to empower our community members. However, we face considerable obstacles due to limited resources and inadequate funding. Additionally, we encounter challenges stemming from a prevailing sense of laziness and entitlement, where some individuals expect others to resolve their troubles, alleviate poverty, and address their needs entirely without any effort on their part.
Nevertheless, we remain committed to teaching the principles of the Kingdom of God and exemplifying a purposeful way of life. We strive to equip our community with valuable training, such as sustainable vegetable gardening. Through this initiative, we provide seeds and access to church grounds, enabling them to establish communal gardens for their benefit.
Despite the challenges we face, our church endeavours to uplift and transform lives through spiritual guidance, practical life skills, support, and empowerment programs. We believe in fostering a community that thrives and overcomes obstacles together. By working hand in hand, we can create a brighter future and help individuals break free from the cycle of poverty and lack.
OUR STORY
The story of how Ps BG and Ps Chante met is a beautiful, God-ordained, one. Promises and prayers worked hand in hand to bear witness of a godly union. Read more about how Ps BG prayed for his wife, the promises God made and what you, too, can do for your future spouse. Here below!
Dear Future Wife is a work that took many years in the making. It compromises a series of poems, messages and thoughts, that the author wrote to or about his then future wife, who he subsequently married. It also has poems and prayers written to or about God while the author was waiting for the promise God had given him regarding his wife.
It was in 2012 that God called the author to work for Him and provided instructions that the author would have to follow. With that came three distinct promises, of which a wife was one. He then had a dream/night vision where he interacted with his wife that God had promised him. From then he started praying for her and waited on the Lord for her. Towards the end of 2019 the author met the woman God had promised him, courted and married her at the end of the same year.
Though the book was compiled and released after the fact, the creative work was written during that waiting period where BG prayed for his wife of the promise, trusted and waited on the Lord.
